The amazing Katherine Fairchild

Standard

When I met Katherine, she was a student, and she was coming to me because as a student on Scott and I’s courses, she was interested in doing an extra credit project, but was concerned that she was “not the most technical person” and did not think she “could write code”. Yet, even in this first conversation, Katherine’s all-consuming passion for Artificial Intelligence was clear. She ended up writing two papers, both relating to Artificial Intelligence, both amazing. This was in 2015.

Fast forward to today. Katherine has been our Lead Teaching Assistant since 2016 on both of the courses that Scott Bradner and I teach. More importantly, she attained her Master’s Degree in 2018 with a thesis on “Request Confirmation Networks: A cortically inspired approach to neuro-symbolic script execution”, and has been growing into a local powerhouse of AI engineering in support of research at MIT. Late 2022, she had an opportunity to present her work as team lead for Quest Engineering Team at MIT. It’s very much worth a few minutes of your time, and will give you a sense of how amazing Katherine is.
